Very good August 31, 2010 Cory I bought this wheel set and mounted to a Playseat Evolution Gaming Seat, a perfect pair. Everything is very sturdy and well constructed.
G27 Racing Wheel August 23, 2010 Rocketron66 This wheel is great! It is so realistic. It is so much better than my PS3 controller on racing games. Now I have a chance at harder levels.
goodbye momo hello G27 August 22, 2010 J. R. Hunt (Kalamazoo, MI USA) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
after 10yrs of the momo, getting kind of old. upgrade, right?? disappointed.
i am big, 6 4, size 8 gloves..
the shifter paddles dig into your fingers and have a cheap feel
the wheel is uncomfortable and cramped
the attachment to the desk is a step backwards.
forget the stupid shifter....put it back in the box
forget the clutch, use the outside pedals only and prop the edge up for better foot ergonomics
i spent a couple hours fixing it and now it feels good
i took the wheel apart, bent the shifter paddles on the vicegrip for more room, padded the shifter pads,(why the hell they have aircraft grade quality and strength metal for the paddles is beyond comprehension), and turned the wheel 180 degress for a much nicer feel and comfort.
now it works just great, with great feel...
jack.
An amazing product if you've got the cash to spare for it -- and someplace to stash the cables. August 20, 2010 W. Ellison (Knoxville) The good: The construction quality on this wheel is amazing. The wheel feels great in my hands, all the case plastics feel really solid, and the pedals are similarly solid -- as long as you've got something to prop them against if you're not playing on carpet. On games that support force feedback, you'll be fighting your car around the corners, then suddenly feel the wheel loosen up when you lose traction, just as in reality. The action of the shifter is pretty good too. One game-specific thing I noticed is that in Need for Speed: Shift, it's possible to drift with this wheel. That may not sound significant, but I've heard that owners of other wheels have trouble with that particular part of the game, while G27 owners don't.
Logitech's software is surprisingly decent -- it does what you'd anticipate (lets you change the settings and so forth) and the good thing is that it actually works. Every game I've tested it with (Dirt 2, Need for Speed: Shift, Race 07, the included trial of rFactor) works really well.
The bad: Cable management is a nightmare. The pedal and shifter modules each have a cable, which you have to connect to the wheel itself, and there's a USB cable from the wheel module to the computer. Oh, and there's a power adapter that goes into the wheel module as well, so that's four cables in all. In some games you'll have to configure the wheel yourself, which takes extra time and effort. In reality, I can live with that, given the complexity of the product, but I thought I'd mention it. Also, I hear it doesn't work with the Xbox 360, only PlayStation 2, PS3, and PC. I only have a PC, so I can't speak to how well it works with the consoles. Lastly, even if it's tightened down all the way, the shifter module still likes to move around on my desk. This is annoying, as I like using the shifter module.
The ugly: Watching myself go off the track in every game I own because my last input to a racing game was an Xbox 360 Controller for Windows.
Must have for Driving Games August 17, 2010 TIgster This wheel rocks.. realy puts you into the game.. if your going to play a racing game this is a mush have...
